ABOUT:
Tuscan wine history is rich, stretching back to the Etruscans in the 8th century BC, who were known for their winemaking. The Romans also embraced wine, and the practice continued through the Middle Ages, particularly with the influence of monasteries. The region's wine trade flourished in the Renaissance, with Florence becoming a major center. Key developments include the demarcation of the Chianti region in 1716 and the rise of the "Super Tuscans" in the late 20th century, pushing boundaries with innovative blends.
Tuscany (which includes seven coastal islands) is Italy's fifth largest region. It is bordered to the northwest by Liguria, the north by Emilia-Romagna, Umbria to the east and Lazio to the south. To the west is the Tyrrhenian Sea which gives the area a warm Mediterranean climate. The terrain is quite hilly (over 68% of the terrain), progressing inward to the Apennine Mountains along the border with Emilia-Romagna. The hills have a tempering effect on the summertime heat, with many vineyards planted on the higher elevations of the hillsides.[3]
The Sangiovese grape performs better when it can receive more direct sunlight, which is a benefit of the many hillside vineyards in Tuscany. The majority of the region's vineyards are found at altitudes of 500–1,600 ft (150–490 m). The higher elevations also increase the diurnal temperature variation, helping the grapes maintain their balance of sugars and acidity as well as their aromatic qualities
Upon arrival at the wine tasting, guests will receive their wine-tasting card and complimentary $15 dinner voucher, which expires on 11/3/25. (Only one may be used per table).
If guests cannot attend the wine tasting, Pierpont's will have their $15 voucher waiting for them at the host stand through 11/3/25. If the $15 voucher(s) are not picked up or used by 11/3/25 - guests forfeit the use of the promotional $15 voucher.
